Literature Courses in Southport this Summer Term

Coming up in April at the Holy Trinity Parish Centre, Southport, are courses taught by Dr. Sue Garner-Jones on The Poetry of Protest and Persuasion and The English Renaissance. The details are as follows:

The Poetry of Protest and Persuasion

Poetry has a voice: of protest, persuasion, pleasure and passion. This course will examine how poets through the ages have employed all of these human needs and desires in their work: come along and share your thoughts and feelings.

Who, When, Where? Dr. Sue Garner-Jones, 10 mtgs. from Friday 27 April 1.00 – 3.00 or 3.30 – 5.30 at Holy Trinity Parish Centre, Hoghton Street, Southport. Book Here.

The English Renaissance

From the late 15th to the early 17th centuries, England underwent a cultural rebirth. In Literature, this encompassed the writing of Jonson, Spenser, Marlowe and, of course, Shakespeare. However, the genius of the Bard often makes us overlook the other illustrious figures of the era and this course will attempt to correct that.

Who, When, Where? Dr. Sue Garner-Jones, 10 mtgs. from Monday 30 April 1.00 – 3. 00, at Holy Trinity Parish Centre, Hoghton Street, Southport. Book Here.
